Minutes of the 2006 National meeting held by Br 23 Washington

Larry Voris, EDGE&TA president opened the meeting with the Salute to the Flag and then lead us in the Star Spangled Banner.

Larry introduced and thanked Alan Schurman and his wife Marcella for opening up their facilities to hold this National event.   Alan thanked everyone for coming.

Larry introduced all of the directors, officers, advisors and their spouses.  When he introduced Gus Peterson, NW Advisor, he also announced that this was the 23rd National show that Gus has attended and coincidently was being hosted by Branch 23.

Larry introduced the president of Branch 23 Craig Steggall.  Craig thanked every one for coming, the board of directors, and gave special recognition to Charlotte Murphy for the preparation of the dinner as well as to the co-workers.

Branch Roll Call – Ruth Warnock

The National Secretary performed the roll call of branches present.  There were 14 from the NW area, 12 from the SW area, 3 from the NC area, 2 from the SC area, 1 from the SE area and 1 from the NE area making a total of 31 branches represented at this National Show.

Old Business

Larry asked if there was any old business that needed to be brought up.  There was none

New Business

Larry announced that we had changed Insurance Agents and that lessoned our insurance cost-wise and gives us more for our money this way.  We are now able to cover each Branch for just a little over a dollar a with D&O insurance. It was costing the Branches that were doing this on their own from $900.00-$1000.00 each.  Larry told all the branches that all of their officers and directors are covered if they send their names and information to the EDGE&TA Secretary.

Dorene Yearian reported that 44 ballots were received by the National Secretary and all Branches voted yes, to make the changes to the National By-laws.

Larry stated that there were three director’s positions open; there wasn’t any opposition so these directors were all re-elected.  Dorene Yearian, NC director,  Howard Hodson, SC and Larry Voris, Director at Large.

The 2007 National Show representative, Dennis Mc Kee, member of Branch 55, Hutchinson Kansas invited everyone to come to their show next year July 14-15.   He indicatated there was plenty of room for all.  They have room for about 1000 tractors so if you want to travel a distance they can accommodate you. They have many indoor facilities, and there was much to see in the area such as museums and other points of interest.  They will set up some tours also.

Morrie Robinson, Branch 26, invited everyone to attend their National show for 2008.  It will be their 25th show and the date will be April 18-19-20.  Camping on site.  They have covered display area in case of rain.  He announced that one of the big attractions for their area is the Tulip Festival through out April and they have thousands of acres of tulips as well as other nearby attractions.

Insertion by the National Secretary.

Due to a conflicting date with the Tulare Farm Show being held in CA in 2008 Morrie contacted me to let me know that he was able to get the National show date changed to APRIL 11-12-13-2008.

Hall of Fame – Howard Hodson

Howard announced that there were 3 nominations for the Hall of Fame.

Lee Hardesty was accepting the plaque for John Boehm Branch 13, California

Mace Archer Br 11, Kansas

Emery and Helen Schulze Br 96, Texas

When Howard was finished Ruth Warnock surprised him by giving him his plaque for entrance into the Hall of Fame.  Howard’s Branch 37, ex-president, Larry Morrison sent me the write-up for Howard and asked me to work a little magic.  I sent it on to the judges and they voted Howard into the EDGE&TA Hall of Fame.  We all hoped this would be a surprise for Howard.

General Discussion-Larry Voris

Web-site.

When Jerry Mac Martin passed away, he took it with him.  He was a great web master.  We had problems getting in to the web site and we had a young fellow Josh Dilsaver, 21 years old, take over.  He is an EDGE&TA member; he was also going to school and holding down a job.  He never could quite get it all together.  We are confident that Josh was quite relieved when he knew that the board was looking for a new web master.  Some members of the board talked with Sallie Walker, brought to us by Jan Hedge, while at the NW Regional Show and were very impressed with her.  The board voted to bring her on as the webmaster this year and she is working on it now.  Hopefully she will have the web pages back up and running shortly.  There is a lot of updating to do.  If you have any information to be posted, send it to the EDGE&TA secretary.  Funnel through her for now and we’ll try to get everything straightened out.

Safety-Larry Voris

All the safety information has been updated this year.  As a priority, Sally will get all of this posted on the WebPages.  If you have any questions you can contact Larry, Ruth or any of the directors and we will attach anything you need to emails. All of this Safety updates helps to make the insurance companies happy and keeps our premiums down.  Any changes we make we run by the insurance company to make sure it is o.k.

Insurance - Dick Tombrink

Announced that thanks to the diligence of the EDGE&TA members, we haven’t had any claims for several years, so we need to continue to emphasize safety in everything we do. The other piece of good news is last year we were paying 6.00 per member for insurance.  The officers and directors are going to meet later, and hopefully we will be able to lower that figure.  Our insurance premiums have not gone up like we thought they would so we have a surplus, and as we mentioned before, when we have a surplus we will apply that to insurance premiums in the future, so that is what we are going to try to do.

Larry indicated that we were going to try to bring it down to $5.00 but it had not been voted on by the board yet.

Larry asked if there were any other questions from the floor.

SW Advisor Dick Wilson asked what the coverage payoff was going to be for the D&O.  Larry didn’t have those figures in front of him but went to his car to get them.

He handed the mike to Cliff Northcote, past EDGE&TA president and current president of Branch 22.  Cliff asked if there were any more questions.  There were none.  Cliff said “that’s a good thing”.  Means things are going good.

Doug Peterson from branch 141 thanked the EDGE&TA board for their hard work for the last year.

Larry announced that the figure Dick asked for was $1,000,000.00.

Larry asked Cliff Northcote to lead us in prayer.

Announcement was made that there would be an old country church service held on the land at 8:00 a.m.

Meeting adjourned.

Respectfully submitted

Ruth A. Warnock, Secretary
